Wormlovers go west...
During 2018 we moved our entire operations to a beautiful site tucked away in the Western Treatment Plant in Werribee. We are so grateful to Melbourne Water for working with us to find a suitable site and for welcoming us on board.
After months of planning and packing, trenching and trucking, our millions of worms are now happy tenants in Werribee. We moved hundreds of tonnes of bedding, materials, containers and equipment down the freeway to the new site and have had the luxury of a blank canvas to establish the perfect setup for humans and worms alike.
The site is set up for operations, research and education to allow us to spread the wormloving message even further.
The Western Treatment Plant is also regarded as Victoria’s premier birding site with over 280 species, regular apperances of threatened species and a waterbird population which exceeds 30,000 birds - so you can imagine the birdlife wanting to visit a worm farm!
Our new yard will enable us to expand our operations to produce more worms and worm goodies. We are already busy developing processes to manage bulk organic waste onsite, as part of a plan to create a template for local councils and large organisations to manage their organics locally.
We are also trialling worm based soil mixes, super-powered worm juice and water effiicent gardens. Our onsite garden has expanded dramatically and the plants are flourishing.
The site is under development as an educational experience for schools. councils and professionals to see the nutrient cycle in action and inspire others to tread the Wormloving path we love so much! Stand by for more...
